Taylor Swift: Kanye’s Apology Was ‘Very Sincere’

Kanye West had apologized two times on his Web site for interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech on Sunday’s VMAs and he talked about the incident on Monday’s “The Jay Leno Show,” but the rapper had yet to personally reach out to the young country artist – until Tuesday morning.

“Kanye did call me,” Taylor told ABC News Radio in an interview on Tuesday following her appearance on “The View.” “And he was very sincere in his apology and I accepted that apology.”

Taylor was asked if she thought future interactions with the rapper would be drama-free.

“Yeah, definitely,” she said.

The young star credits the music community and her loyal fans for helping her accept Kanye’s apology.

“The support that I got from other artists and the fans and so many people sticking by me, that’s what got me to the place where I could accept that apology,” she explained. “And I’m just very thankful that everyone showed me so much love.”

During Taylor’s appearance on “The View,” earlier on Tuesday, she told the ladies of daytime that she was bewildered by Kanye suddenly showing up on the VMA stage.

“My overall thought process was something like, ‘Wow cant believe I won! Wow awesome! Don’t trip and fall. I can thank the fans…oh Kayne West is here…cool hair cut.’ And then, ‘What are you doing there?’ And then, ‘Ouch.’ Then, ‘Guess I can’t thank the fans,’” she recalled.

Sherri Sheperd asked if Taylor would meet with Kayne.

“Sure,” Taylor said, prior to receiving the phone call from the rapper. “He has not personally reached but if he wanted to say hi.”

“He hasn’t sent an e-mail or message?” Barbara Walters asked.

“No,” the country cutie answered at the time.

Though the interruption was jarring, Taylor said she focused on the job at hand – singing.

“I’m not going to say I wasn’t rattled by it but I had to perform five minutes later,” She explained. “So, I had to get to that point where I can perform.”

Following her appearance on the daytime talk show, a rep for Taylor confirmed to Access Hollywood that Kanye had contacted her and apologized for the incident.
