Taylor Swift Reveals Her ‘Voice’ Mentoring Style & What It’s Like Working With The Coaches (Exclusive)

October will see a lot of Taylor Swift. Her new album “1989” comes out on October 27 – the same day she joins “The Voice” as an advisor to all four teams. But here at Access Hollywood, we have our own Taylor news to share!

We are kicking off Taylor Swift month and we begin it all with Taylor talking about lending her voice to NBC’s “The Voice.”

In our exclusive new interview with the “Shake It Off” singer, Taylor opened up to us about what it’s been like to work with Pharrell, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

“The first person that I worked with was Blake Shelton, who I’ve known for years because we both have been in the country music scene for years and years and years,” Taylor told Access’ Liz Hernandez. “His favorite this to do is to make me uncomfortable!

“And after you talk to Pharrell, you feel really good for about two weeks straight… he’s like a sorcerer, of happiness,” she added.

A positive spirit herself, Taylor’s reign as key advisor (a role filled by Coldplay’s Chris Martin on Season 6) begins October 27 during Season 7’s knockout rounds.

What kind of advice will Taylor dole out to hopeful artists?

“I try to react to them the way that I like to be critiqued, which is constructive criticism,” she said. “I like to tell them what they’re doing well and what they should keep, but give them very specific things that they should maybe change or adjust.

“‘You’re doing this mannerism too much, or you’re only holding that guitar because it’s comfortable for you. Put it down,'” she continued. “You know, things like that. I try to be really direct.”

Taylor is also very excited about getting to work with another iconic female artist – Gwen.

“I look up to her so much because she’s continued to do her thing. I love that she never veered away from red lipstick, I can relate,” she said. “I’m really excited to spend time with her.”

Will Taylor collaborate with any of the coaches on music in the future (a la Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, or Adam and Gwen)?

“Pharrell and I were talking, in the breaks yesterday, and we just kept saying, ‘We have to do something together!’ He’s like, ‘You just call me. Call me when you figure it out,” she said. “I’m like, ‘You call me if you figure it out first!'”

Watch Taylor’s “The Voice” debut on October 27 at 8/7c on NBC.
