Terry Crews On How He Became A Good Man

Things are going well for actor Terry Crews.

His new movie, “Blended,” opened on Friday, he’s a co-star in the Golden Globe-winning TV series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and he’s just signed on to host the next season of “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.” But, as he told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday, there were some dark times, where he nearly lost his wife, Rebecca King-Crews.

And the “Manhood” author explained how he turned things around.

“I was a fool with money, and what happens is they take your house, and you’re like, ‘Oh, wow. I need to really change what’s happening here.’ And let me tell you, as a fool, when my wife decided, ‘You know what? I can’t put up with this anymore, I need to go.’ You’re like, ‘Oh, snap.’

“She told me, ‘It’s a wrap, buddy. If you don’t change, it’s over.’ And I’m going, ‘Hold on, something needs to change and it’s me,’” Terry said.

Terry chronicled his quest to become a good man, husband and father in “Manhood,” and he explained to Billy and Kit how he changed.

“I started to study, I started to learn, I started to understand who I was, where I was going and I said, ‘Man, I do need to change, I do need to come a better person,’” he said.

Terry and Rebecca have been married for 25 years, and he told Billy and Kit their marriage is a happy one.

“As quirky as I am, she understands me, she gets me, she loves me and that allows me to do all this quirky stuff for the world,” he said.

One of Terry’s latest quirky roles is playing, what he calls, “The South African Tom Jones,” in “Blended,” alongside Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. He bought the wig and even had costumes made for the film, which sees him singing, dancing, pec-muscle flexing and more.

“I had the best time playing this character. I love him,” Terry said.
