The Access Entertainment Week In Review

The week in entertainment began with an ending, as news broke that Lindsay Lohan completed her 45-day stay in rehab and had left Malibu’s Promises treatment facility on Friday.

Lindsay’s rep, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the departure on Monday, telling Access Hollywood that Lohan had transitioned to an intensive outpatient program, which includes attendance at daily AA meetings, outpatient therapy and daily testing.

“On her own, she has also made the decision in support of her sobriety to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet,” Sloane said in a statement. “In part she is wearing the bracelet so there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served.”

With bracelet presumably affixed, Lohan wasted no time in getting back to the club scene, as she was seen out the following evening at PURE nightclub in Las Vegas. Lohan reportedly drank Red Bull and Voss water at the club, as she hung out with a group of friends, including “Mindfreak” magician Criss Angel and fellow former Promises resident Dori Cooperman. Lindsay was also spotted later in the week at Los Angeles clubs Winston’s and Les Deux, and was photographed walking the streets of Beverly Hills with her SCRAM monitoring bracelet brazenly exposed.

The party ended for Lindsay on Thursday, however, when she turned herself in to the Beverly Hills police department to face DUI-related charges, stemming from her car crash over Memorial Day weekend.

Lindsay was formally booked on the misdemeanor charges, which consisted of a DUI charge and charge of hit-and-run from the May 26 incident, in which she reportedly fled the scene after driving over a curb and crashing into some bushes. She was booked on Thursday rather than at the scene of the accident because she had been admitted to a local hospital following the crash due to reported injuries.

After posting $30,000 bail, Lindsay was released on her own recognizance, pending a court date scheduled for August 24.

Lindsay also made headlines when a report surfaced that her upcoming movie, “Poor Girls,” had been cancelled due to financial backers’ concerns over her “antics in Las Vegas over the weekend.” However, “Poor Girls” producer Robert Hickman denied that the movie was canceled in a statement to Access Hollywood:

“As producer and financier of the film “Poor Things,” I can honestly say that the film has not been cancelled,” said Hickman. “Any rumours saying differently are just that: rumours.”

Britney Spears was back in the spotlight this week, as she was spotted buying a new puppy , stopping off at Starbucks with her sons, and splashing about in the ocean in her underwear. It was also reported that Britney is planning to host the Las Vegas opening of LAX nightclub next month.

The big Britney news this week is that she was reportedly back on a video set for the first time in quite awhile. Dressed in black from head to toe, Britney was filming what is rumored to be the music video for a new song called “Get Back.”

David and Victoria Beckham settled in to American life this week, venturing out with the kids for a trip to Toys ‘R’ Us, and taking in their new Beverly Hills mansion.

“The house looks great,” David told Access Hollywood at his Galaxy introduction ceremony. “The boys have already jumped on their beds and claimed their spots so yeah, they’re very happy.”

The Beckhams will have good reason to go out tonight, as a party in their honor is being thrown by their famous friends Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes and Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith. The lavish, private affair will be held in the Geffen Contemporary at LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art, with a reported guest list that includes Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jim Carrey, Steven Spielberg, and various studio bigwigs.

Speaking of Beckham’s soccer career, it was reported this week that he’ll star in a 13-episode reality show for the Fox Soccer Channel. The show, entitled “David Beckham’s Soccer USA,” is being produced by “American Idol” producer Simon Fuller, and will make its debut next Wednesday. Victoria’s reality special, “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America,” aired on NBC this week to less viewers than anticipated.

Television palyed a big part in entertainment news this week, as this year’s Emmy nominees were announced. “The Sopranos” and “Ugly Betty” received multiple nominations, as expected, but surprises came in the form of 10 nominations for freshman sitcom “30 Rock” and a nod for Justin Timberlake for his contribution to the song “D-ck in a Box” from “Saturday Night Live.”

But along with the surprises, also came the snubs. Past Emmy favorites like “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives” and “24” got little love this year, and the same fate befell some high-profile cast members from “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Former “Grey’s” star Isaiah washington landed a new gig, as it was announced that he’d be joining NBC’s “Bionic Woman” for five episodes. Isaiah also said nice things about his former co-star, T.R. Knight, this week, but said that he never used a homophobic slur in Knight’s presence, as commonly believed — but rather in an argument with Patrick Dempsey. He acknowledged that Dempsey could have spoken up about that fact, but that he remained silent.

“Patrick is? Patrick is Patrick Dempsey. And he protects himself well,” Isaiah said. “He did what he felt he needed to do and remained silent.”

In other TV news: NBC announced that Jerry Seinfeld would guest star on “30 Rock’s” season premiere, and also that Donald Trump will return with a new “celebrity” edition of ‘The Apprentice.’ “The Biggest Loser” introduced its new contestants, “House” announced five new cast members, and “The Price is Right” is in talks with Drew Carey to potentially host.

In movie news, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” cast a spell on the box office, a sequel to “The X-Files” was teased by David Duchovny, and “Hairspray” made its NYC (and Newark!) premiere.

Casting announcements were made this week for Brittany Murphy & Jason Lee, Mark Wahlberg, George Lopez, and “Knocked Up” star Seth Rogan.

As for music news, T.I. stayed on top of the charts, Paula Abdul’s new man was revealed, Carrie Underwood announced a new album for Fall, and Paris Hilton announced plans to start recording her new album.

And finally, former televangelist Tammy Faye Messner died on Friday after a courageous battle with Cancer. Earlier in the week, Tammy Faye spoke to Larry King about her battle with Cancer. Tammy, while gravely ill and weighing only 65 pounds, kept her positive outlook and displayed great courage in discussing her condition. She also addressed the viewers at home who care so much about her:

“I’d like to say that I genuinely love you and I genuinely care and I genuinely want to see you in heaven one day,” the ailing Tammy Faye said. “I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.”
