The Biggest Loser’s Bob Harper Comes Out As Gay

“The Biggest Loser’s” Bob Harper has opened up about his personal life and came out on Tuesday’s episode of the NBC weight loss reality show.

The 48-year-old trainer decided to come out in order to encourage contestant Bobby Saleem, who had come on the show, but still had trouble opening up to his father.

“I haven’t talked about my sexuality on this show ever,” Bob said in a confessional during Tuesday’s show. “And now, meeting Bobby, I really do believe this is the right time. I want to show Bobby that he doesn’t have to live in shame.”

Bob then spent time with Bobby, where he publically came out for the first time on camera.

“I’m gay. I knew I very long time ago that I was gay,” he explained. “When I came out – when I was 17 years old – it was one of those things where I realized that there was going to be so many obstacles, but being gay doesn’t mean being weak. And being gay doesn’t mean that you are less than anybody else. It’s just who you are.”

Following Tuesday’s episode, Bob Tweeted, “THANK YOU to everyone that supported my decision to talk about being gay w/ Bobby. I felt like it was appropriate & necessary. LOVE Y’ALL!!”

Bobby wrote on Twitter, ““Thank you @MyTrainerBob for the words that have changed the path of my life.”
