The Biggest Loser’s’ Sam Poueu Out Of ICU After Fall; Details Of Accident Revealed

“The Biggest Loser” Season 9 contestant Sam Poueu is on the mend and out of intensive care after falling off the roof of a four-story apartment building in San Francisco.

After undergoing three surgeries to treat a variety of injuries, including a pelvic injury, a punctured lung, torn ligaments and a broken leg, Sam is on the road to recovery.

“We are excited to share that Sam is out of ICU and is currently in stable condition,” his family and the family of his fiancee, Stephanie Anderson, told People in a joint statement.

His loved ones are cautiously optimistic about his improving health.

“He still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but we are so encouraged by the progress he continues to make daily,” the statement continued. “He is talking and visiting with family members and close friends who come to see him in the hospital and is so grateful, as are we, for all the love, support and prayers he has received.”

The reality star’s family explained the details of Sam’s accident, which were previously not known.

The family told the mag that Sam fell after attempting to climb down a fire escape at a friend’s apartment after being locked out while on the rooftop of the building.

Sam lost 142 pounds during his time on the hit NBC series.

Sam and Stephanie — a former fellow “Biggest Loser” contestant — got engaged in October 2010.
