LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 13, 2007) – Soccer great David Beckham and his wife, “Posh Spice” Victoria, arrived with their three children to begin their new life in Los Angeles, greeted by the familiar sight of reporters and photographers.Authorities set up barricades at Los Angeles International Airport as if the arrival of the soccer star and the Spice Girl was a red carpet premiere. The British power couple held hands as they walked out of a terminal shortly before 8:20 p.m. after arriving aboard a British Airways flight from London. The swarm attracted curious onlookers, though not everyone knew what the big deal was.

“Who’s David Beckham?” asked Austin Baker, an 11-year-old waiting for a flight.

Earlier today, the couple and their three sons– Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz left London, Heathrow bound for LA. Crewsbegan gathering at LAX not long after, waiting for the family’stouchdown.

The English midfielder, who helped Real Madrid win the Spanish title last month, will play for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. He’s set to be introduced by the Galaxy on Friday, and to make his playing debut in an exhibition match against Chelsea on July 21 in Carson, Calif.

Beckham is scheduled to make around $32.5 million over five years with the Galaxy and millions more in endorsement deals.

Despite playing thousands of miles away, Beckham hopes to stay in the England lineup and help the team qualify for next year’s European Championship. He was dropped following the 2006 World Cup, but has returned to the team.

The Beckhams will make their new home in a reported $22 million, 13,000-square foot villa in Beverly Hills, where neighbors include their friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

They will also appear in a one-hour NBC special, “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America,” airing July 16 at 8 PM.On one of her last trips to America, while shootingher upcoming NBC reality special and preparing the new BeckinghamPalace, Billy Bush sat down with Victoria, who is going to have to getused to a whole new crop of ladies, falling in love with the sight ofher man. Posh however is ready, having dealt with people calling herhunk “hot” for years.“Iknow,” she laughed. “Everyone always says that. I’m proud of him and heis gorgeous. He’s even more gorgeous on the inside. Its funny wheneveranyone goes out with us they say ‘David’s so gorgeous and she’s sofunny. I’m sick of being funny, you know what I mean? I want to be fit.”

Asgorgeous as she is witty, the fit, Victoria is already winning overAmerica once again. Fans will get to know the all grown up Spice mom,on Monday night as her NBC Special – “Victoria Beckham: Coming ToAmerica,” premieres. Once a multiple part reality TV series, the showwas cut to just one episode earlier this summer so Posh could be at herfamily’s side.

“My husband got recalled to play for England, forthe national side, so I wanted to be there supporting him. I wanted tobe there with the kids, so I had to cut a bit of a hole in my filmingschedule,” Beckham explains. “I love my work, I take it very, veryseriously, but predominately I’m a mom, I’m a wife and I want to do mything but I want to be there for my family.”

Posh is tight withher family and also with her famous friends, though the Beckham’s mostfamous Hollywood buddies won’t be sharing Scientology services.

“I’mnot a scientologist, no,” Victoria confirms. “! I think, that a lot ofpeople want to ask us the question about Tom & Katie — do theytalk to us about it? They do their thing, we do our thing, no one hastried to push anything on us. We respect everybody! Everyone’sdifferent, everyone has their thing and for me as long as people arehappy I don’t really care what they do!
