The CW’s “The Flash” is getting a blast from the past.
John Wesley Shipp, who played Barry Allen/The Flash in the 1990s television series, has joined the pilot of the newest “The Flash” installment, Warner Bros. announced on Tuesday night.
The latest version of Barry Allen was introduced in “Arrow” Season 2, played by “Glee’s” Grant Gustin. He was featured heavily in two episodes that aired in the fall, the last of which saw his lab (which he was in at the time) struck by lightning.

Warner Bros. (the studio behind “The Flash” for The CW) shared no details about Shipp’s role, but did announce that the actor would be a recurring guest star (if the show is picked up to series).
“The Flash” is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Tomorrow People”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow”) and well-known director David Nutter (he directed the “Arrow” pilot and several “Game of Thrones” episodes).

Other “The Flash” stars include Candice Patton (“The Game”) as Iris West, Rick Cosnett (most recently Dr. Maxfield on “The Vampire Diaries”) as Detective Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker (“Necessary Roughness”) as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, with Tom Cavanagh (“Ed”) as Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin (“Law & Order”) as Detective West.
