‘The Flash’: Robbie Amell On Firestorm Wig & Nailing His Victor Garber Impression

Dr. Caitlin Snow is going to get the shock of her life on “The Flash” later this season when her fiance, Ronnie Raymond (thought to have been killed in the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion), returns.

Robbie Amell, who plays the engineer on The CW hit, said Caitlin will have a lot to deal with when she next sees Ronnie (who has transformed into Firestorm, a metahuman), and will look like “all hell broke loose.”

“I look ridiculous when you see me next,” Robbie told Access Hollywood at the fan screening of “The Flash”/”Arrow” crossover episodes in Westwood, Calif., on Saturday night. “Most people probably won’t even recognize me when you see my character return, but you’ll know it’s Firestorm shortly after.”

The former “Tomorrow People” star underwent a tedious, uncomfortable hair and makeup routine in order to become Firestorm.

“It was horrible! I hate wearing wigs… I had to wear a wig for a few hours and I thought it was the worst day of my life,” he told Access. “It’s just like clips, and metal things – I don’t know if it’s a guy thing [to hate] wearing a wig, but it was just horrible.”

And the fun didn’t stop there – Robbie had to wear a faux-beard.

“Even worse than that is the fake facial hair, because I can’t grow mine at all. I get a neck beard. I can’t grow the cheeks in,” he said.

As Firestorm, Robbie will play half of the metahuman, as Ronnie was fused together with Dr. Martin Stein (who will be played by former “Alias” star Victor Garber) during the explosion.

“I’ve got Victor Garber in my head, which is terrifying because Victor Garber is this amazing, incredible actor and I have to do a Victor Garber impression for a bit of an episode, which is, you know, an actor’s dream and an actor’s nightmare,” he said.

As for whether Robbie will ever get to appear in a crossover storyline on “Arrow ” (his cousin, Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen/The Arrow on the show), he said he’s definitely working on making it happen.

“I would really like to,” he said. “I have a good relationship with [executive producer] Greg Berlanti, so I’m trying to push that on him. We’ll see what happens.”

“Flash Vs. Arrow” airs December 2 at 8/7c on The CW. The second night of the crossover event, titled “The Brave and The Bold” takes place on “Arrow,” airing December 3 at 8/7c on The CW.
