The Killers Join Bono’s Product (Red) With Holiday Song

LOS ANGELES (November 29, 2006) — Las Vegas synth rockers The Killers are set to become the first band to contribute an original song to the Bono fronted charity campaign, Product (Red).

The group will release ?A Great Big Sled,? a Christmas themed number next Tuesday, December 5th, via the Itunes download music portal.

While Product (Red) requires manufacturers to donate just some of their proceeds to fight AIDS in Africa, the four piece, are donating the entirety of the single?s proceeds to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The band will also release a video for the track, directed by Steve Penta on December 7.

The Killers, who released their second album ?Sam?s Town? in October, are wrapping up a European tour this Thursday in Ireland. They will then head back to the states for a series of US dates beginning December 2nd at the VH1 Big in ?06 Awards in Vegas. They will also hit The Billboard Music Awards in their Sin City hometown, December 4.
