“The Real Housewives of Washington D.C.” has not been renewed for a second season, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
A rep for Bravo told Access that franchise, which featured socialite Mary Schmidt Amons, talent agency owner Lynda Erkiletian, British import and author Catherine “Cat” Ommanney, real estate agent Stacie Scott Turner and alleged White House party crasher Michaele Salahi, will not return.
“We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise. I wish all our D.C. wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity,” Andy Cohen, Bravo’s executive vice president of original programming and development, said in an e-mail to The Washington Post on Thursday.
According to former cast member Michaele – who dominated most of the season as her life with husband Tareq played out in the headlines – the show not being renewed is due to her co-stars not wanting her involved.
“I sort of knew this was going to happen,” Michaele told People. “The other women didn’t want me back on the show, and Andy [Cohen] stood his ground and said there wouldn’t be a show without me on it. I’m grateful to him for that.”
This marks the first installment of the popular Bravo franchise to not be renewed.
In related “Real Housewives” news, Lisa Vanderpump, of the Beverly Hills franchise, told Access at the Logo’s “NewNowNext Awards” in Los Angeles on Thursday, that she hopes her cast remains the same when they return for a second season.
“They’ve announced [our new] season, which is very positive because you know, D.C., obviously has just been cancelled, they’re not picking them up,” the restaurateur and socialite told Access. “Hopefully the [Beverly Hills] cast will stay the same. I thought it was an excellent cast I think the difference in our show, it had a lot of emotional content and it wasn’t just for the cameras.”
