‘The Social Network’s’ Armie Hammer To Play Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rumored Male Love Interest In J. Edgar Hoover Biopic

Armie Hammer, who played both of the Winklevoss twins in this fall’s critically-acclaimed “The Social Network,” will play yet another real life character in the upcoming Clint Eastwood-directed J. Edgar Hoover biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Armie confirmed the reported casting to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush by e-mail on Wednesday.

According to E! Online, Armie has been cast as Clyde Tolson, who served as the Associate Director of the FBI under Hoover, who founded the government crime-fighting organization in 1935.

Tolson, who died in 1975, was a rumored love interest of Hoover, who died in 1972.

Hoover’s personal life and sexuality has been a major source of speculation and interest for history buffs, but according to E!, the movie won’t filled with “guy-on-guy action.”

“There is just smooching, no bedroom scenes,” a source told E!.

The Clint Eastwood-directed J. Edgar Hoover biopic is slated to start filming in February 2011.
