(September 12, 2006) — You can be sure that Meredith Vieira will be ready to go when the alarm clock rings at 4 am tomorrow for her new job on the “Today” show. As for expectations, Meredith told Tim Vincent the Vieira you see is the Vieira you’ll get.
?They know if they try to glam me up too much its going to be a disaster,? she said. ?I think I?m always a work in progress for them because I don?t know style.? And, as if on cue, to prove her point, Meredith revealed that the beautiful outfit she was wearing still had its tags on. ?I don?t own clothes!? She laughs, ?I don?t know style and I don?t really care about it to be honest with you.?
Yes, Meredith has her own set of priorities.
?I’m a mom first. My kids are my priority? and my husband. We’ve had some trials in our family through the years and I think that has probably made me a more empathetic person and I think that I probably see the world a little bit differently because of my life experiences.? Experiences which include raising three teenage kids, a husband living with MS, and her own accomplished career ? a career marked by Meredith?s no-holds-barred outspokenness, something she may have to curb as ?The Today Show? anchor. ?I want to say I don?t think I?ll have to filter through but I’m afraid I will and I worry they don?t have a five second delay or anything on that show,? she joked.
Delays aside, the 52-year old certainly doesn’t have to stress about her chemistry with Matt, Ann and Al, which is already evident in the show?s promos.
?I don’t want to mess it up for them,? Meredith told Tim, ?All I want to do is fit in and be part of what I think is an amazing group of people on a phenomenal show.?
