The Voice Recap: Sasha Allen Becomes Sasha Fierce, Michelle Chamuel Gets The Taylor Swift Treatment

She came into the competition as Sasha Allen, but on Monday night’s “The Voice,” Usher branded her with Beyonce’s famous stage moniker — Sasha Fierce

Sasha impressed the coaches in the first round, covering Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way.” But, her second performance floored them.

Under the direction of her coach, Shakira, Sasha brought her New York City flavor to Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.” She took the stage in a sexy, full-length red dress, and later, ripped it off to reveal a tiny black number, with over-the-knee boots, all the while giving a commanding rendition of the tune.

“Sasha! Man! I guess there’s more than one Sasha Fierce!” Usher commented. “You’ve got an incredible voice and that was really remarkable. I didn’t see it coming at all. It was out of here.”

Blake Shelton enjoyed the whole performance, but he really liked her on-stage clothing change.

“What guy doesn’t like it when a girl rips her dress off — especially on the stage,” he said. “But, man, that was so dramatic and powerful… and she took her dress off on stage!”

Shakira couldn’t have been happier.

“That was hot. … That song was fierce… and yeah, that’s why we’re calling you Sasha Fierce – because you deserve it,” Shakira, (who worked with the original Sasha Fierce — Beyonce — on “Beautiful Liar”) chimed in.

Michelle Chamuel also had a huge night on the show. Her second performance, which saw her taking on Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble,” also rocked the coaches. But she left a big impact on the audience, who gave Michelle not only a standing ovation, but cheered so loudly — and for so long — that the coaches had trouble getting their comments in.

“That’s like ‘TRL,’ Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC loud,” show host Carson Daly commented.

Michelle had a little help prior to stepping out on stage. In the week leading up to Monday’s broadcast, Taylor actually visited the studio as Michelle rehearsed for the show, and told her she was impressed.

After watching the clip package featuring Taylor, and then, Michelle’s big performance, Blake was feeling Team Usher envy.

“I’m so freaking jealous right now,” Blake said. “That was just so intense. … You got Taylor to come in there!”

Other highlights from Monday’s show included Danielle Bradbery from Team Blake taking on “A Little Bit Stronger” from Sara Evans, which had rival coach Adam Levine jealous of his pal.

“That last note was one of the most powerful I’ve heard in this competition, so you’re good to go. You should be happy,” Adam said.

Adam’s remaining songstress in Season 4 — Amber Carrington — left Shakira marveling over her tone when she performed the Patsy Cline classic, “Crazy.”

“I didn’t know that you could do this airy voice. I thought that was beautiful. It was dreamy and a great song choice,” the Colombian superstar said.

The Swon Brothers had their coach, Blake Shelton, beaming after they took on Merle Haggard’s “Okie From Muskogee.”

“You’ve been the only act — ever — on ‘The Voice’ to keep going back and dipping into tradition in country music. There’s gonna be a 10 percent portion of the population out there that are gonna b**** and moan about the fact that they’re doing this hardcore country music on ‘The Voice,’ and there’s gonna be another 90 percent that you just hit smack in the heart out there, man,” Blake said. “And that’s what’s important.”

Holly Tucker also hit a high note with her coach, when she performed Martina McBride’s “When God-Fearin’ Women Get The Blues.”

“I wanna go on record right now saying that is, by far, my favorite performance by you this season — and for a lot of elements, because we’ve learned who you are as a person throughout this competition and we’ve learned the things that you wanna prove to people out there. And you combine what we’ve learned about you and that attitude and it was just so strong and full of energy and I commend you,” Blake said. “It was awesome.”

“The Voice” continues with an elimination night on Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
