The Voice: Will Usher & Shakira Return For Another Season?

“The Voice” is hitting some high ratings notes, thanks in part to new coaches Shakira and Usher — but will the two new faces in the spinning chairs return for another season?

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover spoke to all four coaches and host Carson Daly on Monday, where they dished on the future of the panel.

“What happens if [Shakira and Usher] want to stay next season?” Billy asked.

“I don’t know. We’re not the bosses of the show,” Adam Levine said.

Usher teased that there is a possibility of returning, saying, “That means that you have to stay tuned.”

Shakira stayed humble about the show’s success with them onboard, telling Billy and Kit, “It’s all beginners luck.”

Blake Shelton has a theory on how NBC might woo the two new coaches to stay.

“You ever seen like when there’s a football team and a guy is at the end of his contract. Then like all the other players have to give up half of their money in order to keep [him]? That’s what Adam and I are going to have to do, I mean these two are so famous and huge.”

“They’re the Tom Bradys of our show,” Carson said of the R&B star and the Colombian singer.

“Adam and I will have to coach for free next year just to keep them,” Blake joked.

As for the show’s huge success, Carson said they take pride in uplifting the contestants and not tearing them down – like some of their reality TV competitors.

“None of us were interested in making fun of people. None of us thought that there was anything trivial about using comedy and television to get ratings or drama when it didn’t exist,” he explained. “As cheesy as it sounds, there’s great family television on NBC. It’s fun, it’s cool… it’s hard to be popular and cool.”

“The Voice” returns tonight with more Battle Rounds on NBC at 8/7c.
