The Walking Dead: David Morrissey Talks The Governor’s Future

“The Walking Dead” Season 3 finale airs this Sunday and fans are chomping like hungry walkers wanting to know if the cast body count will continue to climb.

Fan-favorite David Morrissey, who plays The Governor on the AMC hit, stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday where he talked about his character’s future.

After Merle Dixon’s death – and zombie transformation – last week, many fans are wondering if The Governor will be the next character to meet his demise.

“I think all the characters are in danger,” David told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

The British actor – whose character is waging an assault on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his gang at the prison, while holding Andrea (played by Laurie Holden) prisoner in Woodbury – acknowledged that he knows much of the audience would like to see his character offed.

“I think a lot of people would like to see me go. We’ll have to wait and see,” he teased.

So what will happen during the season ender?

“In the finale it’s about brining all those stories [from this season] together,” David explained. “It’s quite full on. It’s in the tradition of the season so far.”

The actor stayed tight-lipped on whether the Governor would live to continue to wreak havoc during Season 4.

“The Governor, he’s certainly got one more episode to go,” he said. “It’s a really hard show to promote because people run up to me in the street and say, ‘Tell me what happens, don’t tell me!’”

The actor might be playing one of TV’s favorite love-to-hate characters, but his role on “The Walking Dead” has helped improve his cred with his teenage son.

“I have an 18-year-old and he loves it. I’ve done The West End, I’ve done Shakespeare and my kid is like, ‘So, whatever.’ But this, being on ‘The Walking Dead,’ I’ve certainly become cool to him and his friends. It’s a great show to do for that,” he added.

“The Walking Dead” Season 3 finale airs Sunday at 9 PM on AMC.
