It’s been a difficult week for Michelle Williams and Michelle Rodriguez. One of them is going to jail and the other will be visiting her dad there.
“Lost” actress Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating her probation, said a spokesman for the city attorney.
Judge Rex Hesseman also sentenced the 27-year-old “Lost” star to 30 days of community service with the Sheriff’s Department, stints with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel and the city’s hospital and morgue program, plus an alcohol education program, spokesman Frank Mateljan said Monday.
As for 25-year-old Michelle Williams’ father — prominent stock market trader Larry Williams — he’s been arrested for tax evasion…the international kind.
Larry Williams was granted bail Tuesday by a Sydney court after Australian Federal Police, responding to a request from U.S. authorities, arrested him Saturday.
He was to begin a monthlong speaking tour in Australia and New Zealand.
Michelle started off the year on an up note when she was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in 2005’s “Brokeback Mountain.”
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has been seeking her 64-year-old father over allegations that he evaded $1.5 million in taxes on royalties from his books on the stock market and proceeds from international seminars between 1990 and 2001.
Larry Williams, who lives in the Virgin Islands, was freed on $753,000 bail, ordered to surrender his passport and report to police three times per day.
He is due back in Central Local Court on Monday.
Michelle Rodriguez will be spending her first night in jail on May 31.
Her probation violation stemmed from her December arrest in Honolulu on suspicion of drunk driving, for which she served five days in jail.
The Honolulu arrest violated the three-year probation term Michelle was given in 2004 after pleading no contest to charges of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol, Mateljan said.
Her probation was extended until June, 2009, he said.
A message left with Michelle Rodriguez’s attorney, Henry Holmes, was not immediately returned.
Her “Lost” character, Ana Lucia, was shot and killed on the show. The show’s producers insist that her death had nothing to do with her arrest.
