Tim McGraw Tops The Billboard 200 Album Chart

Country superstar Tim McGraw dominates the Billboard 200 album chart in a week that sees seven new releases in the Top 10.

McGraw’s latest, “Let it Go,” sold 325,009 copies upon its debut, giving him his fourth # 1 album on the Billboard 200.

The latest NOW compilation, Volume 24, premieres at #2 with 229,998 copies sold. This new volume features hit songs from Fergie, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Lily Allen, among others.

Rapper Young Buck grabs the third spot with his latest release, while MIMS takes fourth with his debut album, which had early buzz thanks to his hit single “This Is Why I’m Hot.”

The next two spots see some familiar faces, with Akon at # 5 and Daughtry at #6.

Good Charlotte returns with their 4th album for Epic records at #7. “Good Morning Revival” sold almost 66,000 copies, which is a bit of a disappointment after selling nearly 200,000 in the first week with their last release in 2004.

Joss Stone slips from # 2 to # 8, selling around half the discs she did last week.

Elton John’s latest greatest hits compilation, “Rocket Man: Number Ones,” makes its debut this week at # 9.

Capping off the Top 10 is Jennifer Lopez, whose first foray into making a Spanish language album nailed the # 1 spot on the Billboard Latin chart. “Como Ama Una Mujer (How a Woman Loves),” her fifth album, is sung entirely in Spanish and was produced by her husband Marc Anthony, along with Julio Reyes and Estefano. Lopez recently told Entertainment Weekly that this album “is an opportunity for me to show my emotions, vulnerability and passion. I don’t get to do that as much in English.”

The Hot Downloaded Singles Chart belongs to Gwen Stefani, whose performance with Akon last week on “American Idol” no doubt boosted downloads for “The Sweet Escape.” Her album got a bit of a boost as well, climbing from last week’s # 25 position to # 16 this week.
