‘Tis The Shopping Season (Glam Slam)

After work on Friday, I went shopping to try and score some after-Halloween deals when I came upon this — a ginormous Christmas tree being erected!

I have mixed feelings about this every year! Part of me gets excited and the other part of me starts to stress out!

November 1 seems really early to start decking the halls. Is it me or is it getting earlier and earlier every year? (According to one store employee, they did start decorating earlier this year, so I’m not crazy.)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Ebenezer Scrooge, I love Christmas. But soon, Christmas decorations will be up in full force before Halloween.

My 4-year-old even asked me, “How come there are no Thanksgiving decorations?”

Poor Thanksgiving! It’s the forgotten middle child sandwiched between bigger moneymakers Halloween and Christmas!

On the flipside…when my daughter saw the tree going up she went crazy. It’s always so fun watching things through your child’s (un-jaded) eyes. She even took one of the extra braches home and put it in a vase because she thought it smelled so good. She talked about where Santa’s Cottage would be built and when Santa would get there.

And that’s the whole point…we are now talking about Christmas practically in the same breath as Halloween.

For a child, there’s nothing more exciting than back-to-back holidays.

For the rest of us, get your shopping lists ready….only 50 more days until Christmas!
