Tituss Burgess’ ‘Peeno Noir’: What It Will Take For An Emmys Performance

Ever since Tituss Burgess scored an Emmy nomination for “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” we’ve had one mission: get him to sing “Peeno Noir” at the Emmys!

Access Hollywood continued with this oh-so-important crusade at the Television Critics Association Press Tour Tuesday where we got the Emmy-nominated actor to breakdown exactly what needs to happen to see a live rendition of his character’s “ode to black penis” on TV’s biggest night.

“It won’t be funny. What’s funny about it are the random locations and the ridiculous outfits,” the actor, who plays struggling actor Titus Andromedon in the Netflix series, claimed.

Access was having none of that “won’t be funny” nonsense and pressed the actor, imploring him to figure out a way to perform it live.

And then, we swear we witnessed a literal light bulb go on above Tituss’ head.

“Perhaps, I don’t even want to plant this in anyone’s head, but perhaps, if there were 15 or 16 really fast costume changes and a teleprompter the size of this room, where I could see all these random words and phrases, maybe then,” he said with a smile.

Our hopes of a live “Peeno Noir” at the Emmys peaked even more when he added, “But OK, never say never. Who knows… We’ll see. I’m open to it.”

So attention Emmy Awards producers: we’re going to need 16 of Hollywood’s best costumers, the biggest teleprompter you can find and a stellar green screen – let’s make this happen!
