Todd Bridges On Gary Coleman’s Loss: ‘It’s Sad That I’m The Last Kid Alive’ From ‘Diff’rent Strokes’

A number of stars remembered Gary Coleman following the news of his death on Friday, but one former co-star offered a particularly poignant statement.

“It’s sad that I’m the last kid alive from the show,” Todd Bridges told The Associated Press, referring to ‘80s series “Diff’rent Strokes.”

“I am deeply saddened by Gary’s death. May God give him peace,” Todd said in a separate statement to Access Hollywood on Saturday.

Before Gary’s death at age 42, the show’s other former child actor, Dana Plato, died in 1999 from a prescription drug overdose. She was 34.

Though Todd may be the last of the original child stars, 34-year-old Danny Cooksey — who joined the show for its last three seasons as Sam McKinney — continues to act and has participated in a number of music projects.

Todd played Gary’s on-screen brother, Willis, on the long-running show, the subject of Gary’s famous phrase, “What’choo talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?”

The pair played brothers adopted by a white windower, played by Conrad Bain – who turned 87 in February.

Like his late co-stars, Todd’s life has been turbulent since the end of “Diff’rent Strokes,” which ran from 1978 to 1986.

In 1989, he stood trial for attempted murder, for which he was acquitted.

He detailed his battles with drug addiction in his recent book, “Killing Willis,” and appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last month to discuss his new life.
