Tom Cruise Lines Up WWII Movie Role

LOS ANGELES (March 21, 2007) ? Tom Cruise has lined up his second starring role since taking over United Artists with his production partner Paula Wagner.

According to Variety Cruise will play a “central role” in a World War II thriller, Bryan Singer is set to direct.

The trade paper repots the movie is based on actual events “as German generals hatch a scheme to assassinate Adolph Hitler at the height” of the conflict. Singer is reportedly fitting in the filming of Cruise?s new picture before taking on the sequel to “Superman Returns.”

Singer?s previous directing projects include “X2: X-Men United” and “The Usual Suspects.”

The latter film was written by Chris McQuarrie who wrote the script for this new project with Nathan Alexander. Alexander will co-produce the project with Singer.
