Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman Character Lands Movie Deal

Foul-mouthed producer Les Grossman is going to be a star.

Tom Cruise’s hairy, hip-hop dancing mogul character, who first appeared in 2008’s “Tropic Thunder” and made a return by “producing” Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, will be the focus of a new Paramount film, the studio announced to Access Hollywood.

“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds,” Ben Stiller, who starred in, co-wrote and directed “Tropic Thunder,” said in a statement. “He has assured me he plans to quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honored to be working with him.”

Tom will produce the film along with Ben and his Red Hour Films cohort Stuart Cornfeld after having “secured the life rights to Grossman,” Paramount’s announcement joked.

Writer Michael Bacall, who most recently penned the August-due “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” will handle the script.

No word yet if the “Tropic Thunder” crew – which included Ben, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Jay Baruchel and Matthew McConaughey — will reprise their roles in the spin-off.

Grossman’s scene-stealing MTV moments including a dance-off with Jennifer Lopez as well as pre-taped scenes with “Twilight Saga” stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

However, not every fan is looking forward to a Grossman movie — in an AH Nation poll, 53 percent shot down the idea of the character getting his own movie, voting that “Les is better in small doses.”
