Tom Hardy: Life’s Not Easy As A ‘Skype Father’

It’s not easy being a man in high demand – just ask Tom Hardy.

The star of the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises” said one of the downfalls of his success is not always being home for his 4-year-old son, Louis.

“I’m very much aware of being a ‘Skype father,’ which is sad,” Hardy said in the new issue of Company Magazine, of his busy schedule. “But I have to have the finances to make sure [my son will] be secure, and I can only do that by working.”

The 34-year-old actor – who plays Batman baddie Bane in the new “Dark Knight” installment – said he does everything he can to minimize his time away from his family, which also includes his fiancée – actress Charlotte Riley.

“I like to go no longer than three weeks without seeing my loved ones, but it does take some juggling,” the big screen hunk admitted, noting that his son lives mostly with his ex, Louis’ mother, Rachael Speed, whom he dated on and off for several years.

Of course, with his current ladylove also being in showbusiness, it’s not always easy to match up schedules.

“My fiancee is an actress too, so quite often she goes to one side of the globe while I go to the other,” Hardy told the UK mag.

Hectic Hollywood life aside, bring up his son, and Hardy quickly turns into a doting dad.

”[Louis] plays rugby. He’s rubbish at it but he’s really full of heart,” he added. “He’s a beautiful boy. But I would think that, wouldn’t I?”
