Tom & Katie Welcome Baby!

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are proud parents, Access Hollywood has learned.

Tom, 43, and his fiancée Katie, 27, welcomed the arrival of a baby girl, Suri, on Tuesday.  The child weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches in length.

A spokesperson for Cruise released the following statement to Access:

“Both mother and daughter are doing well.”

This is the first child for Tom and Katie together.  Tom also has a daughter, Isabella, 13, and a son, Connor, 11.

The name Suri has its origins in Hebrew meaning “princess,” or in Persian meaning “red rose.”

People magazine first broke the news of the birth.

Details surrounding the birth, which was planned under the tenets of the Church of Scientology as a silent procedure, weren’t disclosed.

Back in October, Cruise’s spokesperson, Lee Anne Devette, confirmed Holmes’s pregnancy to Access Hollywood.

“Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited,” Devette told us.

Cruise began dating Holmes in April 2005. He proposed to her at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in June 2005.

While Katie was raised a Catholic, Tom recently told Diane Sawyer that their baby would not have a Catholic baptism.

“No,” Cruise tells Diane Sawyer in an interview for ABC’s “Primetime. “No, I mean you can be Catholic and be a Scientologist. You can be Jewish and be a Scientologist. But we’re just Scientologists.”
