T.R. Knight Heading For The Stage

T.R. Knight’s not wasting any time looking for work. On the heels of his announced departure from ABC “Grey’s Anatomy,” the actor is set to star in a production of “Parade” at the Mark Taper Forum in LA this fall, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The star will reportedly take on the role of Leo Frank in the Tony-winning musical, which runs from September 24 to November 15. It won’t be his first time on stage – T.R. has appeared on Broadway in 2003’s “Tartuffe” and 2001’s “Noises Off” as well as a number of off-Broadway productions.

“I am very fortunate to return to the theater playing Leo Frank in this incredible, acclaimed production of ‘Parade,’” T.R. told the Times. “After a five-year break, it feels great to be on stage again.”

The 36-year-old actor spent the past five years playing George O’Malley on “Grey’s,” and he told Access Hollywood on Friday that leaving the medical drama was a difficult choice.

“Leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much,” T.R. said in a statement to Access. “I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm.”
