The cast of “True Blood” gathered earlier this week for the show’s final table read and it was an emotional experience for the stars of the HBO series.
“It was really, really incredible, actually,” Stephen Moyer (Vampire Bill Compton) told Access Hollywood at Tuesday’s Season 7 premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. “A lot of people came back that weren’t even in it, just to sit there and be a part of it and it was really lovely, actually.”
“And I didn’t feel like we were really that close to the end. I was kind of like, ‘I don’t get what the big deal is.’ And then towards the end I was like (mimes crying),” Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) added.
Now that the cast knows the ending of their HBO show (which kicks off its final season this Sunday night at 9 PM ET/PT), Access asked the pair how they think fans will feel about it.
“Sad,” Anna said.
“I think it ticks a lot of boxes for all the fans,” Stephen added. “I think it does a lot to answer questions and leave a few unanswered.”
But, before that time comes (there are 10 episodes this season), there’s plenty of Bon Temps action – including some between Anna Paquin’s Sookie Stackhouse and the boyfriend she ended Season 6 with – Joe Manganiello’s Alcide Herveaux.
And Stephen, who did some directing this season, was actually behind the camera for some Sookie/Alcide trysts.
“Interestingly enough, Steve directed all of Joe’s sex scenes,” Anna told Access.
“It’s… maybe odd, but it just becomes very normal and sort of mundane quite quickly. … We’ve done all kinds of weird sh** on the show,” she added. “He’s actually managed to walk in on almost every single Sookie boyfriend and I at some point or other.”
“True Blood” Season 7, the final season, premieres Sunday night at 9 PM ET/PT on HBO.
