TV Tidbits: Starz Unveils Magic City Key Art, Hot In Cleveland Gears Up For Live Episode

Starz drops the stylish new poster for the summer return of 1950s-set series, “Magic City,” Betty White and the cast of “Hot In Cleveland” prep for a live Season 4 premiere and new details on Seth Meyers’ animated series for Hulu in AccessHollywood.com’s roundup of TV news.

“Magic City” Season 2 Poster Revealed! Starz just dropped the (aqua-toned) key art for Season 2 of its sexy series “Magic City.” The new poster features Jeffrey Dean Morgan as hotelier Ike Evans. Although he looks carefree in the image, cruising in Ray Bans with the convertible top down, Ike actually ended up in the slammer at the end of the first season, accused of murder. But while the image hints he’ll be getting out of lockup, trouble is on the way courtesy of Chicago mobster Sy Berman, played by James Caan. “Sy causes more problems for Ike than not, but I think to have someone like Jimmy on our show made us a better show, and certainly made my life a lot more entertaining,” Jeffrey told AccessHollywood.com, as he sat alongside James in this amusing interview. “And to work with him was a joy.” “Magic City” returns for Season 2 on June 14 at 9 PM on Starz.

“Hot In Cleveland” Spices Things Up For Season 4 Premiere: Betty White and the “Hot In Cleveland” gang are taking a page out of the “30 Rock” handbook by going live. The TV Land series, which also stars Valerie Bertinelli, the sassy Wendy Malick and Jane Leeves, will kick off its fourth season with a live episode (where anything can go wrong, or hilariously right) on June 19 at 10 PM ET. Joe Keenan (“Frasier,” “Desperate Housewives”) is penning the script and TV Land told Access fans should look out for secret “helpers” throughout the night!

Seth Meyers To Launch Animated Series On Hulu: “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers has teamed up with “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” producer Michael Shoemaker for “The Awesomes,” an animated series for Hulu, the online portal announced this week. The setup of the show is what happens when the “greatest superhero team in history” loses its most powerful members. Seth voices Professor Doctor Awesome, described by Hulu as “under-qualified.” Premiering on Hulu on August 1, the show will also feature the voices of “SNL’s” Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader and Taran Kilam.

“Rectify” Renewed For Season 2: Critically acclaimed freshman drama “Rectify,” about a man – Daniel Holden (Aden Young) — who gets out of prison after spending almost 20 years on death row, has been renewed for a second 10-episode season on Sundance Channel, the network announced this week. The show — Sundance Channel’s first original scripted series — only just premiered on the network (on April 22). Its Season 1 continues Monday nights at 10 PM on the network. Season 2 will debut in 2014.
