‘Two And A Half Men’: Walden Wants To Adopt, Will Propose To Alan (Updated)

Wedding bells could be ringing for Ashton Kutcher’s Walden and Jon Cryer’s Alan on “Two and A Half Men,” according to CBS Chairman of Entertainment Nina Tassler.

When AccessHollywood.com asked the executive about the final season of “…Men,” following the CBS executive panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour on Thursday, she revealed one of the big story lines coming up.

“Walden is going to have a major health scare and it is going to give him a little bit of an existential crisis and he wants to find a way to add more meaning to his life, so he decides that he wants to adopt a child,” Nina told Access. “And, in doing so he starts the process and he realizes it’s very difficult to adopt a child as a single straight man.

“So once and for all he decides, ‘I’m going to propose to Alan. We’re going to get married and adopt a child as a gay couple,'” Tassler continued. “So that just gonna start the season on ‘Two and A Half Men ‘ and I think we’re off for a great run.”

When another reporter asked Tassler if she was worried about blow back from the LGBT community she defended the story line.

“I think it’s a very positive statement, that it’s like, ‘You know what? I am going to adopt a child as a gay couple,’ and it’s like the reality is he can do that and in a universe when, at one point, you couldn’t do that and now you can do that, I think that’s a much more positive statement that he’s making.”

Later, Tassler clarified that the characters weren’t going to become gay, but that Walden was going to try and use a gay marriage to help his adoption efforts.
