Ty Pennington’s Latest Construction: A Talk Show?

Ty Pennington, host of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” is developing a daytime talk show for Fall 2012, his rep confirmed to Access Hollywood on Friday.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the talk show is being planned to coincide with the end of Ty’s contact with “Extreme Makeover,” which wraps up in spring 2012.

The lovable host got his start in reality TV as a set designer, which soon led to a stint on TLC’s “Trading Spaces.” Known for his dedication, creativity and high energy, Ty made himself a household name when ABC picked him to front their heartwarming home-transformation show that aims to change the lives of families in need.

Ty’s news comes just a few months after Oprah Winfrey announced her upcoming departure from daytime – set to happen in Fall 2011 – leaving the daytime field open for a new king or queen to emerge.

Oprah protege, designer Nate Berkus’ show debuts next month, while Rosie O’Donnell announced this week that she will return to daytime in 2011 on The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Additionally, Access Hollywood Live will also launch this fall on September 13, airing initially in 13 markets across the country, including six of NBC’s Local Media stations and six FOX-owned stations.
