Universal Studios Fire: The Day After

The embers were still smoldering on the backlot of Universal Studios on Monday, just one day after a fire broke out, claiming several pieces of movie history.

Access Hollywood is on the scene today at Universal as firefighters continue to sort through the carnage, as their investigation into the blaze continues.

And while officials continue to sort through the damage, Access Hollywood has learned that the legendary clock tower Michael J. Fox used to time travel in “Back to the Future” was lost in the fire.

Earlier reports had suggested that piece of movie history had been spared.

However, a backlot foreman and a publicist for Universal confirmed the news to Access on Monday.

As of this morning, there is still no known cause of the fire, which left nine firemen and one sheriff’s deputy injured.

Tune in to Monday’s Access Hollywood as we broadcast from the heart of the devastation, with complete Access to the Universal lot – on the ground and in the air.
