UPDATE: Channing Tatum Eyed For ‘Captain America,’ Chace Crawford Did Not Twitter About Role

Channing Tatum is now on the list of possible Hollywood hunks who could play “Captain America.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Channing has been added to the growing list of actors that Marvel is considering playing the superhero.

Channing, who has already played a real American hero in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” has reportedly only been approached for the role and has yet to see a script.

Also in the running is “The Young and the Restless” star Wilson Bethel and “She’s Out of My League’s” Mike Vogel, who both have reportedly screen tested. “Fantastic Four’s” Chris Evans also reportedly read for the part and Marvel is also reportedly considering Garrett Hedlund from “Tron Legacy.”

Keira Knightley is reportedly being considered for the female role of Betsy Ross.

Channing might be in the superhero mix, but “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford did not Twitter about the casting process, contrary to a previous report by AccessHollywood.com.

Access reported on Tuesday that the actor announced he was out of the running for the Marvel superhero role via Twitter. Access has since learned from Chace’s rep, that the actor, in fact, does not even have a Twitter account.

Access apologizes for the earlier reporting error.
