UPDATE: Paris Hilton Heads To Asia Following Plea Deal; Detained At Airport

Less than 24 hours after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges in her Las Vegas cocaine possession case, Paris Hilton jetted off to Asia to promote her line of handbags, but the heiress was not given the welcome wagon when she landed.

“On my way to my Asia to debut my Fall/Winter Collections. So excited to see all my fans. First stop – Tokyo,” Paris Tweeted early Tuesday morning, later adding in another Tweet, “Just landed in Tokyo with my BFF/Sis”

After landing, however, she was held by Japanese authorities.

“Paris Hilton was delayed by immigration authorities at a Japanese airport this evening after arriving for business obligations planned many months earlier,” a rep for the star told Access Hollywood. “Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn’t want to let down her brands and many Asian fans. She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight’s events.”

According to TMZ, the hold up is over her Las Vegas cocaine possession case over which she pleaded guilty on Monday.

TMZ also reported that an employee at the Consulate General of Japan in NYC said the country is strict when it comes to recent drug convictions. She’s reportedly staying at an airport hotel until the incident is sorted out.

According to People, the reality starlet is scheduled to also travel to Jakarta, Indonesia, to open a new Paris Hilton retail store, and then travel on to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A People source said Paris plans on starting her 200 hours of court-ordered community service “as soon as she returns” and that she “has already contacted her doctor to set in place her counseling” for her required substance-abuse program.
