UPDATED: ‘Batman’ Star Christian Bale Released After Arrest For Alleged Assault

Christian Bale, star of the record-breaking “The Dark Knight,” has been arrested by police in London who are investigating claims he assaulted his sister and mother, according to London’s Press Association.

“A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment. He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault,” a spokesperson for the London police station told Access Hollywood. “He currently remains in custody.”

Bale was released after spending four hours at a London police station, according to the Associated Press.

Bale allegedly lashed out at this sister and mother in his hotel suite at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

The actor was arrested hours after he attended the London premiere of “The Dark Knight.”

The British paper, The Sun, claimed police did not question the actor Monday because they did not want to interfere with the premiere.

Bale’s mother and sister made the formal allegation at a Hampshire police station Monday. Their complaint was then passed on to the Metropolitan Police to be investigated further.
