Val Chmerkovskiy — Fans Want Me To Play Christian Grey; Talks Dancing All-Stars

Apparently a new name has been tossed into the Christian Grey fantasy casting hat by the fans of “Fifty Shades of Grey” – “Dancing with the Stars” professional Val Chmerkovskiy.

Val revealed he’s been asked a number of times about the role when AccessHollywood.com spoke to him at ABC’s party following the network’s portion of the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

“I’m already [being suggested as the] casting for Christian Grey,” he told Access.

But, for those hoping for Ian Somerhalder/Alexander Skarsgard/Henry Cavill/Colin Egglesfield or someone other celeb in the role, fear not, Val wants no part of it.

“I don’t want to be Christian,” he laughed.

Val is going to be pretty busy this fall anyway. He and Tony Dovolani, both confirmed to AcessHollywood.com that they will be back on the all-star edition of “Dancing with the Stars.”

“It’s going to be very intense,” Val said of the competition in store.

Neither Val nor Tony have managed to scoop the mirrorball trophy in their “DWTS” histores, but Val pushed back when Access asked if the all-star edition trophy is the one to get.

“We approach every season that way. It’s not all-star for us. It’s all-star for the all-stars,” Val said. “Our job stays the same no matter what character we’re paired up with. It’s a formula A+B = C.”

Asked who might be the frontrunner in the competition – perhaps former Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno — Val said he couldn’t single any one star out.

“Every season is different. Every cast and everything is relative when it comes to competitive events, especially dancing. The season Apolo won, I wouldn’t say that was the most competitive season. The season Melissa Rycroft was on was probably the most competitive season,” Val said. “You have the three finalists from that season on this show. Gilles [Marini], Melissa and Shawn Johnson.”
