Valerie Harper is not completely out of the woods cancer-wise, despite a story making the rounds on Wednesday.
“In response to a recent erroneous quote concerning my health, I am not ‘absolutely cancer-free,’” the actress said in a statement to Access Hollywood late Wednesday afternoon, referencing a story published by Closer magazine in which she was quoted as proclaiming herself “absolutely cancer-free.”
“I wish I were,” her statement continued. “Right now what I am is cautiously optimistic about my present condition and I have hope for the future.”
Just over a year ago, the 74-year-old “Mary Tyler Moore Show” alum was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
She was initially given three to six months to live.
