Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo Dishes On ‘General Hospital’ Return After 13-Year Absence

Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo returned to “General Hospital” after a 13-year absence and married her longtime onscreen love, Sonny, only to be kidnapped right after the ceremony — is this the end for her character or will she live on for more daytime drama?

“I’ve always been in touch with the head writers and the producers and I’ve always loved the show and I’ve always said, ‘I’ll come back and visit for the rest of my life,’ if they’ll have me,” Vanessa told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live.

“I love to visit there. I love the people. It really is the greatest character I think I’ve ever played as far as feeling challenged and satisfied,” she said of her Brenda character.

The 42-year-old actress told Billy and Kit that she was honored to return to the daytime series where she got her start.

“I came back to honor my roots. They are the people I grew up with,” she explained. “It was like going to an incredible high school reunion. We had so much fun. I have so much respect for these people. They work so hard. I loved being there… we just had the best time.”
