Vin Diesel Voices Groot In Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, Russian & French For ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Vin Diesel only says three words in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but he learned them in five languages other than English.

The actor mastered “I am Groot,” (which is all his talking, walking alien space tree character says in the new Marvel movie) in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and French.

The multilingual actor previously spoke to Access Hollywood about how he created his character’s voice.

“They didn’t computerize my voice,” the actor said earlier this month, explaining what you hear in the space adventure movie is not altered. “It was just me.”

Vin was blown away with how director James Gunn created such chemistry between Groot and Bradley Copper’s gun-wielding foul-mouth talking raccoon, named Rocket – and the actors never even worked in the recording studio together.

“I saw the movie and I was just like, I love these two and these two love each other and they have a real relationship and that’s exciting and I want more. Again, that’s a testament to both the CGI guys that created such a framework for my character and to James Gunn for protecting that chemistry and assisting that chemistry. Because it really does come off in the film,” Vin said at the time.
