‘Wall Street’ Returning To The Big Screen

Tired of Wall Street dominating the news day in and day out lately? Too bad, because now it’s likely heading to the theaters — for a second time.

20th Century Fox has announced plans for a “Wall Street” sequel, a follow up to the 1987 classic starring Michael Douglas.

Allan Loeb, who penned “21,” has signed on to write the script according to reports in both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety Tuesday.

The story is expected to focus again on Gordon Gekko, following his release from prison. Charlie Sheen’s character, Bud Fox, will not be a part of the redux, according to Variety.

And Douglas may reprise his Oscar-winning role as Gekko, a potentially smart choice according to In Touch’s Carolina Bermudez.

“It could be a good move,” she told Access. “Audiences were so invested in his character.”

A rep for Douglas told Access Hollywood, the award-winning actor has an interest in the upcoming film.

“Michael is interested in seeing a script — but until then, it’s just an idea,” the rep said. “Without a script, or a director, it’s just an idea. Michael needs to see a script before he can say whether he will return to ‘Wall Street.’”

Original producer Edward R. Pressman has lined up to produce once again.

It is unknown if Oliver Stone, who directed the original, will also return.
