Watch Out VMA Winners! Kanye West Confirmed To Perform At MTV Awards Show

One year after he famously crashed Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West is returning to the event to perform.

MTV confirmed online rumors, announcing on Thursday that the rapper would be taking the VMA stage on September 12, live from Los Angeles.

Although no details about Kanye’s performance or song choice, were made available on Thursday, the rapper has a new album due this fall and is likely to perform a cut from his upcoming LP.

A short while after the announcement was made, Kanye Tweeted about the news.

“Just met with MTV and it’s about to go down! VMA’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” he wrote.

MTV also confirmed that Drake and British outfit Florence + The Machine would also perform at the event.

“To be performing and nominated at this years VMA’s is completely amazing and especially for the song ‘Dog Days.’ I recorded that song in a cupboard with no instruments and the sound of the drums was me banging my hands on the wall,” Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine said in a statement. “For this song to be recognized at such an iconic event is a total dream. For me ‘Dog Days’ symbolizes apocalyptic euphoria, Chaotic freedom and running really really fast with your eyes closed. I hope to somehow encapsulate those things in my performance at this years VMA’s. I would also hugely like to thank everyone at the VMA’s for giving me this opportunity.”
