When Will Sanjaya’s ‘Idol’ Reign End? Website Offers Clues

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 29, 2007) — Want to know when Sanjaya Malakar is finally going to get the ?American Idol? boot? DialIdol.com just might be able to help. The private website run out of Cleveland offers ?American Idol? fans a free software download that keeps a record of what happens when a voting call is made. If you dial a busy signal, the website keeps track of that as well as all the votes that make it through the system. Thanks to the site?s network of people across the USA using the system, computer analyzation of the data allows the web portal to claim an 87 percent accuracy rate on who stays and who goes. DialIdol.com also boasts to have predicted the winner of the closely matched Season 5 finale. The website is the brainchild of James Hellriegel Jr, a fan of the show, who came up with the idea after getting repeated busy signals while voting during past seasons.“It was really frustrating and I wished there was a computer program that could dial the phone,? he told Reuters. ?Then I wondered if there was any way to measure these busy signals to see if there is any meaning in them.?The website offers a breakdown map by state showing phone in for statistics from their software users. As for the current national results? Melinda Doolittle leads the pack followed by Chris Richardson, Lakisha Jones and in fourth place, this week anyway ? Sanjaya Malakar. They don?t always get it right though. DialIdol.com predicted Jordin Sparks would end up in the bottom three Wednesday night, instead of Phil Stacey. The program isn?t just for ?Idol? lovers. Hellriegel Jr?s software works with television shows including ?Dancing With the Stars? and ?So You Think You Can Dance.?
