Whitney Houston’s Death Ruled Accident, Result Of Drowning & Heart Disease, Cocaine

Whitney Houston’s death has been ruled an accident, the result of drowning and the effects of heart disease and cocaine use, the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner just revealed.

“The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner conducted an autopsy on the body of Whitney… Houston, age 48, on February 12th, 2012. The final cause of death has been determined to be: drowning, and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use,” a statement from the coroner to Access Hollywood read.

Atherosclerotic heart disease, according to WebMD, is a hardening and narrowing of the arterie.

Houston was found submerged in a bathtub filled with water and had “cocaine intake,” the coroner’s statement read.

According to the toxicology reports, cocaine contributed to her death.

Also discovered in the toxicology tests were marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax), Flexeril (a muscle relaxant), and Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), but according to the coroner’s office, the substances “did not contribute” to her death.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Houston died on February 11, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, ahead of Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party.
