William Levy Reacts To Len Goodman Calling His Freestyle ‘Predictable’ On Dancing

William Levy and Cheryl Burke said they were moving on after Len Goodman branded their Latin, lift-packed freestyle “predictable,” during Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

“We’re just gonna do — at the end of the day — what William does best,” Cheryl told Access Hollywood backstage, after the show. “I’m not gonna go out there and not make him move his hips, and so we just did what we do as a couple and we just made sure that it was perfect.

“If we would’ve gone out there doing like [a] hip-hop number, you guys probably would have been very disappointed. I know the public would, I know Carrie Ann [Inaba] and Bruno [Tonioli] probably would. Why even go there?” Cheryl continued. “Just capitalize on your strengths. That’s what the freestyle’s all about. I didn’t know you were being judged on your choice of freestyle.”

Len was met with boos from the audience and exasperated expressions from Carrie Ann and Bruno when he wasn’t blown away by William and Cheryl’s freestyle, which was full of lifts and saucy moves.

“I liked it. I liked the lifts, I liked the changes of rhythm from tango into salsa, but for me, it was too predictable. All you do is shake your butt and get the women screaming,” Len said. “I didn’t want a salsa with lifts.”

After the show, while speaking with Access, William hinted Len’s remarks took him by surprise.

“I never knew freestyle was predictable. I never knew that. It’s freestyle,” he said.

The crowd in the ballroom definitely enjoyed William and Cheryl’s dance, and despite Len’s remarks, William said he stood by their number.

“I feel this was an amazing dance, and [an] amazing routine,” he said. “I think it was a really good freestyle routine. It’s freestyle and we had a lot going on… lifting here, lifting there, dancing over here, moving over there. That’s what it’s all about, you know?”

It’s clear the pair is hoping to take home the mirrorball, and William said they left everything on the dance floor on Monday.

“We gave it our all… I mean, whatever happens, it’s gonna be good because I know we gave it [our] all,” he told Access. “We got 59 out of 60, and right now, it’s up to the fans. I’m pretty amazed [by] what we did. We did a good freestyle, we did a good cha cha and I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, but I feel like a winner right now.”
