Will.i.am’s Details On MJ Collaboration He Doesn’t Want Released

A new album of unreleased material from Michael Jackson is slated for release by the end of the year and Will.i.am – who collaborated with the late pop star on numerous tracks in 2006 – has gone on record several times in recent months saying that he does not want the material released. In June, the Black Eyed Peas frontman gave Access Hollywood details on some of the tracks that could wind on the new Jackson album.

On Tuesday, the Associated Press again reported that Will.i.am has said the upcoming Jackson album should stay in the vault.

“I don’t think that should ever come out. That’s bad,” he recently told the AP. “He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?”

However, at the 2010 BET Awards in June, Will.i.am revealed to Access’ Shaun Robinson several details about the tracks which he recorded with Jackson in Ireland in 2006.

“The song that we did in tribute to James Brown after he passed called, ‘I Will Miss You,’ a song called, ‘Still The King,’ ‘Dreaming’… so many things that we worked on. But they’re not finished and I can’t just put them out,” he said at the time.

“I don’t think it would be right for me to release that stuff… and now that he’s not hear to guide, it’s his material it’s voice,” Will concluded back in June to Shaun.
