Woman Arrested For Allegedly Stalking John Cusack

An alleged stalker was arrested outside John Cusack’s home in Malibu, Calif., on Sunday, authorities confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Despite an existing restraining order, Emily Leatherman, 33, showed up outside the actor’s home over the weekend and was arrested on suspicion of stalking, Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told Access.

Officers were called to the 24000 block of Malibu Road around 7 PM on Sunday after a taxi reported a passenger was refusing to pay the fare after being taken to that neighborhood.

As sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, Cusack alerted them that he recognized the female passenger and that she had allegedly been stalking him.

“She was arrested and had violated a previous restraining order taken out against her by Mr. Cusack,” Whitmore said.

Leatherman was booked on suspicion of felony stalking, violating a restraining order and petty theft.

She was booked at the Malibu Lost Hills station and was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Cusack originally filed papers requesting the restraining order against Leatherman in June 2006.

According to the papers, Cusack never met the woman, however her mail had been arriving at his home.

“This person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside, making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me and listing my address as her own during a recent arrest,” Cusack said in the request.

The woman has suggested in letters that she wanted “a normal life and home” with Cusack, and threatened to hurt herself if he doesn’t help her, according to the papers.
