Woman Denies ‘Involvement’ With Tiger Woods

Rachel Uchitel has denied a tabloid report she had an affair with golf star Tiger Woods.

“I did not have any involvement with him [Woods],” Uchitel told E! News. “Whatever was written in the Enquirer was not said by me, it was said by two people that claimed they were friends of mine, but they’re not.”

Days before the golfer was injured in a crash outside his home, the details of which remain unclear, sources and people who claimed to be friends of the woman told the National Enquirer she was involved with Woods.

“Rachel told me, ‘I’m having an affair with Tiger Woods. We’re in love,” one woman who claimed to be Uchitel’s friend claimed in the mag, which continues to stand by their story.

As for Uchitel, she told E! News she has retained the services of a celebrity attorney as she faces the fallout over the report.

“I am overwhelmed, so I hired Gloria Allred to handle the situation,” she said. “I don’t want to get this much attention, and I wish everybody would leave me alone.”

Over the weekend, Woods issued a statement over his Friday crash, which left damage to his vehicle and saw him knock over a fire hydrant and hit a tree.

“As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore,” he wrote in a statement on his Web site. “This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

However, without explaining why the accident occurred, Tiger added that it wasn’t up for public discussion.

“This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way,” he continued. “Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.”

He refuted one rumor, which alleged that his wife, Elin, had played any role in the crash.

“The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble,” Tiger stated. “She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

“This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received,” he concluded. “But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.”

Florida Highway Patrol officer Sgt. Kim Montes told Access Hollywood on Sunday that Woods’ lawyer, Mark Nejame, contacted the FHP on Sunday afternoon to cancel the golf superstar’s planned interview with authorities. The crash remains under investigation.
