Al Roker Talks Presidential Inauguration Parade Moment: My Parents Would Have Been ‘Thrilled’

Al Roker scored two major gets on Monday during the Inauguration Parade – moments with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden – something his late parents would have loved.

“What made it, in a sense, special is that… I’m a kid from Queens, get acknowledged by the President, a handshake from the Vice President on Martin Luther King Jr. Day,” the “Today” show personality told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live.

The quick exchange with the President and First Lady and being greeted by the Vice President would have delighted Al’s parents.

“My parents, I know, would have been so thrilled to have been able to see that, I know they did. But, it was a special moment. It was exciting,” the “Never Goin’ Back” author continued. “Joe Biden, I love Joe Biden, he just so enjoys life!”

So was the President and Vice President’s staff alerted to Al’s presence on the parade route ahead of their meeting?

“Call it a hunch, I don’t think they’re really concerned by me,” Al joked.
