‘American Idol’ Finalist Michael Johns Dies At 35

“American Idol” Season 7 finalist Michael Johns has died, according to multiple reports. The Australian singer-songwriter was 35.

“It is with a heavy heart and inconsolable sadness that we confirm the passing of our friend Michael Johns. No other details will b avail at his time.Please respect the privacy of Mike’s family and friends as we know u will. Members and admin of @mjohnsonline pass on their prayers,” the administrator of his website Tweeted on Saturday.

According to multiple Hollywood Reporter sources, the singer is believed to have died due to a blood clot in his ankle.

Fellow “Idol” alum Melinda Doolittle remembered the singer on Instagram sharing a photo of herself and the late singer, writing, “I can’t express how sad I am right now. Michael Johns, rest in peace, my friend. You will be greatly missed.”

After appearing on the Fox reality singing competition in 2008, where he placed eighth, the singer released 2009’s “Hold Back My Heart” and the EP, “Love and Sex” in 2012.

Johns is survived wife Stacey, who he married in 2007.
