Avril Lavigne Plots Spring Return

LOS ANGELES (January 29, 2007) — Canadian pop rocker Avril Lavigne will return with her third artist album The Best Damn Thing, later this spring.The celebrated artist who has netted a host of Grammy nominations over her brief career recruited a number of producers on the album including her husband Deryck Whibley from punk-pop outfit Sum 41. Producers Rob Cavallo (known for his work with Green Day), Butch Walker (Pink) and Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson) also contributed to the album due April 17.While fans of the singer were given a preview of Lavigne’s first new music since 2004 with last year?s ?Keep Holding On” from the ?Eragon? soundtrack, the official single from the effort will be ?Girlfriend.? Its video premieres February 26 before hitting radio on March 5.Other tracks slated for The Best . . . include ballads ?When You?re Gone,? ?Innocence? and ?Keep Holding On? and pop-punk cut ?I Can Do Better.?
