Britney finally talks all about the men in her life, past and present.
Is Justin to blame for her troubles? Why did she marry hometown friend Jason Alexander?
And what about husband Kevin Federline. Is he simply playing out of his league?
For the first time, Britney breaks her silence to Matt Lauer in Thursday?s ?Dateline? special that covers everything from motherhood to the popstar’s55-hour-long, Vegas-style marriage.
?You were that blonde girl that everyone loved, the squeaky clean image,? said Matt, to an attentive Britney. ?And then all of a sudden, it seemed that the press turned, and they decided that maybe you were somebody that they wanted to take some shots at.?
?At a certain point in everyone’s career they’ll get it,? Britney said.
?Do you think perhaps the breakup with Justin, was that when you started to sense the tide turning in your life?? Matt asked. ?There were allegations of infidelity. Did that put the spotlight on you in a negative sense??
?Um, yes I do,? Britney said. ?Yeah, a little bit I do think there was, there was a little shift there, definitely.?
?What about the marriage, the much talked about very brief marriage to Jason?? Matt asked.
?That was just silly,? Britney told Matt.
?So, regrets about either of those two things or just part of life?? Matt asked.
?Oh no, not at all, like, I don’t regret anything,? Britney said. ?With Jason, I feel like I was just wanting a sense of home because I was on the road for a while, and again, I was doing a lot of what I was told instead of what I wanted to really do, and I didn’t know how to break out of that, so, in my young mind, I’m like, I’m just going to get married to one of my home friends.?
As for the speculation that Britney and Kevin are over, Access Hollywood producer Michael Lewittes saw firsthand how Kevin is very much in the picture.
?I arrived four hours before the shoot began, and I was greeted by Kevin Federline who was holding baby Sean Preston who looked adorable with one of those Maddox mohawk haircuts,? Michael said.
Matt wanted to know how Kevin feels when he hears rumors that he lives in Britney?s basement.
?That makes me cry. That hurts me for him,? Britney told Matt.
?Do you think there is a sense out there, Britney, that he is not good enough for you?? Matt asked.
